Global Education Network (GEN) is appointed as the South East Asia Regional Office by the Confederation of Tourism, Hotel & Catering Management (CTHCM) based in London , effectively from 18 May 2006.

GEN will serve as the FIRST and ONLY Official Regional Representative of CTHCM in South East Asia.

GEN is trusted to play the important roles in promoting CTHCM professionally in the region. The former is to provide full support to the later in terms of branding & marketing, logistic arrangement, memberships administration, centre appointment, examination coordination, correspondence & follow-up, and all other services in enhancing the professionalism of CTHCM's trainees and students in Malaysia.

CTHCM was established in 1982 in London to provide recognised standards of management and vocational training that appropriate to the needs of the hotel and travel industries, via its syllabus, examinations and awards. The Confederation is the only established specialist professional body in UK which focusing on the training needs of new entrants to the hospitality and tourism industries.

CTHCM works with approved centres worldwide and is acknowledged and endorsed by leading hotel and travel industry organisations, such as HCIMA, Star Alliance and Virgin Atlantic Airways.

In the past 5 years, CTHCM has registered over 15,000 students on its programmes.

The main academic and training specialisations offered by CTHCM are:

• Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Hotel and/or Tourism Management (fully endorsed by HCIMA)
• Virgin Atlantic / GTMC Manual Fares & Ticketing Certificates (fully certified by Virgin Atlantic Airways)

The Hotel and Tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries around the world in 21 st century. The industry is increasingly demanding for higher standards of customer services and facilities requirement. As a result, it is only through an organised and structured education and training that these expectations can be met.

CTHCM management programmes are designed to offer broad equivalency to the first and second years of British university degree. As such the scope of training is essentially supervisory and strategic rather than routine skills based. Graduates of CTHCM management programmes are capable for the roles as Junior Management in tourism and hotel industry. Subsequently, CTHCM Advanced Diploma graduates are guaranteed for admission into the final year of Bachelor degree at UK universities.
